Touch-down in Mazar-e-Sharif - somewhat cloudy today
After a security briefing, the hand-over of the obligatory Motorola GP 300 radio, and some additional delays in Kabul, I took Pamier Air flight PA 0101 and arrived in Mazar-e-Sharif today. The landing strip was a bit bumpy but we came down safely. A taxi took me to the Mazar Guesthouse of the GTZ. They have nice rooms and a nice little compound with a rose garden an a swimming pool (water missing at the moment - outside temperature is about +5 degrees Celsius). I immediately took the exact GPS position of the guesthouse (you do not want to get lost here) and set up my mobile office: Portable printer (battery powered), ThinkPad (battery powered with spare battery), Motorola GP 300 (battery empty and no spare available), The service here in the guesthouse is excellent, if you need some power or want to connect to the Internet - that's no problem. People will start the generator and everything works fine.
The GTZ Mazar Guesthouse is located close to the city center and just some hundred meters from the airport road.
The breakfast room is nice and has a 24/7 tee service.
In the middle of December there are stille some roses on the bushes in the rose garden.
