Touch-down in Kabul - fine sunshine and pleasant temperatures
Today I arrived in Kabul (via Zurich-Dubai). Because of all the computer equipment, my luggage was somewhat (too) heavy. That caused a hefty fine on the Zurich-Dubai leg in form of an overweight surcharge. At Kabul International Airport everything worked fine: My luggage arrived and the Immigration Card Office was open and issued the indispensable Foreigner's Registration Card. ... but ... my Roshan SIM card did no longer work and I could not get in contact with the people who wanted to pick me up. Fortunately, everyone carries one or several mobile phones these days and one British guy let me use his phone to make the necessary calls. A car took me to Sainfullah Rahimi's Cedar House Restaurants & Hotel in Shar-e-Naw district (House #7 Next to Kabul City Center, GPS: N 34 31'52.0 - E 069 09'58.9), which is close to Wazir Akbar Khan. Find some pictures of the hotel below.
After I arrived at 8:30 a.m. I decided that I should have breakfast. The restaurant looks quite nice (but I missed some German rolls).
On the left you see a part of the mountain range which is relatively close to the city (about 30 km from the center).
The mountains are about 4.000m hight and covered with snow most parts of the year.
